
I spent the last stretch of Davos coverage doing what most people will never do. I sat down and parsed hours upon hours of footage, attendee perspectives, and the kind of white papers that usually get skimmed once and forgotten. I did it because the world is drifting into a new phase of artificial intelligence and I wanted to hear the signals as they were forming, not after they became headlines.
If you were hoping for the optimism and awe that dominated the AI narrative in 2024, Davos 2026 did not carry that energy. This year felt like a hard turn. The dominant themes were politics and AI, and the two were not separate conversations. They were the same conversation from different angles.
When you have dozens of heads of state in the room, the message is obvious. AI is no longer a tool sitting inside an IT department. It has become national policy, economic strategy, labor strategy, energy strategy, and legal strategy all at once.
Davos is not just a conference. It has become a signal beacon for the tech sector, for insurance carriers, and regulators alike. People can debate whether they like Davos, but it is difficult to debate what it does. What is said on those stages becomes boardroom language within weeks. It becomes policy language within months. It becomes “reasonable care” in courtrooms and underwriting standards before the year is over.
This is how the world actually works.
When Jamie Dimon talks about managed transitions, labor and compliance teams start drafting playbooks.
When Julie Sweet demands accountability and AI literacy at the top, cyber insurance carriers start recalculating liability and exclusions.
When Jensen Huang talks about sovereign AI, disclosure requirements start creeping into conversations that used to be “optional.”
When Satya Nadella connects AI outcomes to energy use, everybody who owns a data center, buys cloud credits, or trains models feels the pressure shift under their feet.

That is not just advice for governments. That is advice for every company building or deploying serious AI. The era of casually “playing with ChatGPT” is over. What comes next is a phase defined by discipline, governance, measurable outcomes, and a new level of scrutiny. In plain English, precision or perish.
I want to share the signals I pulled from Davos and translate them into what they really mean for builders, business owners, and anyone serious about AI deployment. I also want to show you why I believe DOMINAIT.ai and Ryker were built for this exact chapter, not as a marketing pitch, but as a framework for surviving what the world is now demanding from AI.
The Global AI Race Has Narrowed and That Changes Everything
One of the most important statements out of Davos came from Demis Hassabis. He said the performance gap between U.S. and Chinese AI models has narrowed to a matter of months. The U.S. still leads in fundamental innovation, but Chinese firms are demonstrating rapid and cost-effective scaling to reach frontier performance.
That is not a small comment. It is a strategic alarm bell.
For years, executives in the West have treated “we are ahead” as a moat. They have used it as a reason to move slower, to price higher, and to assume customers will keep paying premium rates for premium branding. Davos signaled that assumption is becoming dangerous.
The real issue is not whether the U.S. is still ahead in some abstract sense…the real issue is inference efficiency. The race is shifting toward who can run models at a fraction of the cost while maintaining acceptable output quality. When a competitor can run a similar capability at ten percent of the cost, they do not need to be “better.” They just need to be cheaper long enough to take market share. And that’s where we are with DOMINAIT.ai
This is one of the reasons I have been so vocal about the limits of LLM hype. Large language models, or LLM systems, are impressive, but the market is now demanding a different question. Not “how big is your model,” but “how efficiently can you deliver outcomes.”

Mohamed Kande, the global chairman of PwC, warned that AI is taking over the routine tasks that used to be the training ground for junior talent. The 50-year-old entry-level model is breaking. Jobs that require little skill, no critical thinking, and repetitive tasks are going away. Fast. And if people aren’t prepared for it, they can and will be jobless.
Anyone who has built a real organization understands this. Junior roles were often designed around repetition. You learned by doing the boring things until you understood the system well enough to do meaningful things. AI is now absorbing the repetitive layer, which means the apprenticeship layer is shrinking.
The question is not whether that will happen. It is already happening. The question is whether organizations can evolve the pipeline fast enough to avoid a leadership vacuum by 2030.
What Davos signaled is that junior employees will need to move into “agent oversight” roles. Companies will need to retrain early-career talent as AI orchestrators, supervisors, auditors, and operators of agent systems. But by proxy, those positions will be limited, and there won’t be enough jobs to go around.
This is not a soft HR initiative. It is a structural requirement for survival.
Here is the deeper issue that many companies are missing. You cannot scale agentic systems without people who understand how to supervise them. If you automate the entry-level layer without redesigning the progression, you will have no one who knows how your firm works in five years. You will have a workforce that knows how to use tools, but not how to govern systems.
In my world, this is why I keep saying that AI literacy is not a “nice-to-have.” It is becoming a prerequisite for leadership. Not just in the C-suite, but across the organization. AI governance is going to become embedded in the job descriptions of roles that never used to touch anything technical.

Many business leaders spent 2025 waving AI around as a reason to cut headcount. Davos 2026 signaled that governments and institutions are now watching for second-order effects. Not because they want to stop AI, but because they fear civil instability, economic shock, and unmanaged displacement.
That matters for anyone building or deploying agentic systems. It means your workforce strategy becomes part of your AI governance strategy. It also means the legal exposure grows if you treat AI as an excuse rather than a transformation plan.
The companies that thrive will be the ones that automate responsibly and transparently. They will be the ones that can demonstrate outcomes without social backlash. They will also be the ones that can show they are not just extracting value, but creating it.

Julie Sweet’s message was direct. CEOs must become AI-literate and touch the keyboard. Leaders who do not understand AI cannot lead their companies through the changes it brings.
I agree with her, and not for performative reasons.
A leader who cannot explain their model’s reasoning boundaries is a liability. A leader who cannot explain how data flows through their pipeline cannot govern risk. A leader who cannot explain how an agent executes actions cannot assure safety. And a leader who cannot explain outcomes per unit of cost cannot manage strategy.
This is why I keep telling business owners to stop outsourcing their understanding. You do not have to become a machine learning engineer, but you do have to become AI literate enough to govern decisions that will reshape your company.
It is becoming a fiduciary requirement in the same way cybersecurity literacy became a fiduciary requirement. If you are responsible for shareholder value, you are responsible for understanding the risks that can destroy it. And anyone saying foolishness like, “I haven’t jumped on the AI bandwagon” will be some of the first to lose their jobs.
The term “bandwagon” originated in the 1800s before the invention of cars. Bands would perform from horse-drawn wagons during parades and political campaigns. We use the term today because it is referenced as the end of an era that no one at the time saw coming. People who lived in the age of bandwagons never saw everyone owning a car with a radio in it.
AI is not a bandwagon. AI is the future of a technological advancement that isn’t going to stop. If the Internet or electricity shut off right now, the world would go to civil war. Stopping technology from advancing cannot and will not happen.
If your AI roadmap does not include your energy roadmap, you are not building a roadmap. You are building a wish list that will not be fulfilled.
The world is moving toward a token-cost economy, whether people like it or not. The cost of intelligence becomes the cost of energy plus the cost of compute plus the cost of hardware plus the cost of governance. The companies that secure green sovereign energy contracts will win on token cost. The companies that rely on public grids and unstable pricing will lose.
This is one of the reasons I believe decentralization has a deeper future than people understand. Distributed networks can absorb diversity. We can route compute. We can smooth the load. We can reduce dependence on any single grid constraint. Centralized systems become hostages of location, regulation, and energy pricing.
If you are a serious builder, the question becomes simple. How do you prove real-world outcomes per unit of energy? How do you justify the resource use? How do you avoid becoming a symbol of waste?
Davos signaled that the energy question is now a legitimacy question. If you cannot show outcomes, you lose permission to operate.
Green AI Is Not Just Code Efficiency. It Is Supply Chain Traceability
The bonus signal out of Davos is one many people will ignore until it becomes a crisis. The WEF briefing on critical minerals made the point bluntly. The credibility of the AI transition depends on responsible mineral supply chains. Innovation increasingly begins beneath the surface. Mining must become more intelligent and traceable to avoid environmental and social harm.
This is where people realize that “green AI” is not just about writing efficient code. It is about traceability. It is about ethical sourcing. It is about the reality that AI hardware depends on rare earth minerals, copper, nickel, lithium, and a supply chain that can be exploited.
If the world loses trust in the hardware supply chain, it loses trust in the AI transition.
That matters for regulators. It matters for insurers. It matters for enterprise procurement. It matters for brand risk. It matters more than people blindly playing with AI think.
The imperative is straightforward. If you are building AI infrastructure, you need to audit the rare-earth and mineral components of your hardware stack. You need traceability. You need standards. You need to show you are not building intelligence on top of invisible harm.
This is also why I believe the next phase of AI governance will go deeper than software policies. It will include procurement policies. It will include hardware disclosure. It will include standards for the physical substrate of intelligence.
Davos is signaling that AI governance is becoming end-to-end. From mining to labeling to model design to token energy usage to workforce transition to liability. Every layer is now a governance surface.
Davos 2026 Ends the “Move Fast” Era for AI
The clearest message from Davos is that the “move fast and break things” mentality is expiring in the AI world. In its place is a mandate for discipline and outcomes.
The world is done being impressed by demos. The world is done being excited by a new chatbot feature. The world is asking what the intelligence does, what it costs, what it consumes, what it risks, and who is accountable.
This is why I keep repeating a phrase that now feels inevitable. Precision or perish.
If you are a company playing with AI casually, you will be outpaced by companies that govern it seriously. If you are a leader delegating AI understanding, you will be outmaneuvered by leaders who can explain and control what they deploy. If you are scaling AI without energy strategy, you will be constrained. If you are automating without social transition planning, you will face backlash.
This is not fear. This is the new environment.
